The primeval rainforest where this photograph was taken could disappear in a matter of months due to the indiscriminate oil palm farming. At Trapa we have no wish to contribute to deforestation or to its social and environmental consequences. That’s why we have already removed palm oil from our new ranges, and in 2019 we will be removing it from all of our products.
WHY REMOVE PALM OIL FROM CHOCOLATES?
Oil palm plantations have a hugely negative impact on biodiversity. In tropical areas, habitat loss caused by deforestation and burning prior to sowing the crop can be as high as 50%. It also has an impact on greenhouse gas emissions.
